The Red Wedding: Kath & Dave

Hosted in the industrial backstreets of Collingwood, Melbourne, in a former warehouse, Kath and Dave’s Red Wedding drew inspiration from Kath’s Chinese heritage — everything was a deep cherry red, from the ceremony backdrop, to the florals, tablecloths, menus and signage.

“In China, red is a lucky colour, but it’s also a colour that’s universally associated with love and romance, so it was the perfect colour palette for us. I love it when weddings reflect your background, experiences and stories as a couple. We also incorporated an array of mirrors into the theming, which reflected the red hues beautifully”, Kath said.

Kath and Dave’s wedding was recently featured in the annual edition of Hello May Magazine (Issue 41 — released in November 2025). It was one of only 12 real weddings selected for print each year, out of 3,000-5,000 weddings submitted.
